Trump Says Mail-In Voting Should End — Mississippi Election Leaders Disagree..

Trump Renews Push to Eliminate Mail-In Ballots and Voting Machines..

Former President Donald Trump said he plans to lead a movement to ban mail-in ballots and replace electronic voting machines with paper-based alternatives.

In a recent post, Trump argued that current voting systems are “highly inaccurate, very expensive, and seriously controversial.” He claimed that electronic machines cost nearly ten times more than traditional paper ballots and that paper with watermarks would provide a faster, more transparent way to determine election results.

Trump insisted that elections “can never be honest” under widespread mail-in balloting, saying that “everybody — in particular the Democrats — knows this.”

Trump’s Mail-In Ballot Criticism Sparks Response in Mississippi..

Mail-in ballots have historically served a vital purpose in U.S. elections, especially for military personnel overseas, Americans working abroad, and voters with disabilities who otherwise could not participate in the democratic process. In recent years, however, several states have expanded access to vote-by-mail, fueling partisan debates about election security.

Former President Donald Trump doubled down on his opposition, claiming that the United States is the “only country in the world” that still allows mail-in voting. That statement is not entirely accurate. At least 22 nations — including Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, and Japan — still permit some form of mail-in balloting.

In Mississippi, State Senator Jeremy England (R), who chairs the Senate Elections Committee, echoed some of Trump’s concerns. England said mail-in ballots carry “a level of uncertainty,” since verifying whether the person listed on the envelope is the same individual actually casting the vote can be difficult.
